My life in 250 words and Life on less sleep

Yesterday several bloggers that I follow started the blog everyday in May challenge. While I'm always up for a challenge, I wasn't quite sure I wanted to participate in this one. After giving it some thought, I decided I would give it a shot. So I may be a day late (and a dollar short), but technically I did post yesterday...so here goes nothin'!

Day 1 - My life in 250 words

I was born and raised in the great state of Texas. I lived in the same house my whole life (minus the 4 years of college) until early last year when I finally got a place of my own. My naturally curly hair and I started taking ballet, tap and jazz at the ripe ol’ age of 3. I continued dancing through high school and was on the high school drill team. I stopped for 3 years until I decided to become a hip hop teacher my last year of college. Throughout my childhood I was also involved in piano lessons (8 years), basketball (5 years), a father daughter camping group (elementary thru freshman year of high school), tennis lessons and horseback riding lessons. Weekends during the summers were spent at the lake where my brother and I would try and throw each other off the jet skis. I attended college up in the hill country and graduated with a degree in finance. I also received my scuba certification and scored an expert rating on my golf final while up there. I have worked at the same place and at the same desk for the last 5 years. I met my boyfriend of almost 4 years at work and it all started from an e-mail I sent him about the Astros. I’m a TV addict and a movie buff...always have been, always will be. These days my daily routine consists of work, working out and catching up on TV shows.

Day 2 - Something I'm good at - Life on less sleep

If I told you I have to wake up at 6 am everyday to make it to work by 7 am, what time would you think I would hit the hay?? 9 pm? Maybe even 10 pm? You would be wrong! I'm usually hopping in the shower around 10 or 10:30 pm and lights out around 11 or 11:30 pm. Sadly some nights are even later. Why so late you might ask? Well like I said in my 250 words up there...I love TV. As of right now, I have 23 shows I watch through out the week. So yeah...I might stay up a little too late watching them, but oh well...ha ha. But here's how I manage everything...

1. Drink a hot cup of Ginger Peach tea in the morning, followed by a cup of green tea.
2. When you start to fall asleep at your desk, go roam around or tell you co-worker to slap you awake (ok maybe not slap)
3. Once 4 o'clock hits no more caffeine...you do want to be able to fall asleep that night
4. When you get home...celebrate by going to the gym. If at all possible, do not lay on the couch because you will fall asleep.
5. After your workout, your body should be energized enough to make it to 10 pm and tired enough to fall asleep fast and hard.

There you go...how to go to bed late and wake up early. Now on the weekends feel free to sleep how ever long you'd like...maybe even until noon :)
