Thursday Things

1. I ordered my very first cheese-less pizza this week. I got a strange look from the waiter, but it was delicious

2. I think my stomach was so happy to finally have pizza again after years of just being able to smell it that it gave me the hiccups! The last time I remember having the hiccups was when I stressed myself out about making peanut butter balls. I guess I get the hiccups for the strangest reasons...

3. I keep having the strangest dreams... First I dreamt that I went to the store and wanted to buy one hamburger patty...just one...and walked up to the register with raw meat in my hand. Then I had a dream about meeting the guys from Duck Dynasty, but they had shaved off their beards and I started to cry (I guess I'm a dream cryer because I never cry IRL).

4. On the lines of sleeping...I don't know what I've been doing in my sleep lately. The other morning I woke up and my comforter was in a ball and my pillow was in the middle of my bed. I'm sure I must of been sleeping on top of all that, but to be honest I don't remember a thing. Also, I went to bed with pretty curly hair the other night, but must have tossed and turned all night because I woke up to a huge frizz ball.

5. Now that I think about it, the sleeping habits could be from one or two things. 1. I've been taking Zyrtec at night to help with the residual sinus issues from my cold a couple of weeks ago. or 2. I've been obsessed with Pretty Little Liars and can't go to sleep without watching one more episode (let me tell ya...that's probably not the best show to watch right before bed).

6. This weekend is Easter weekend and opening day for the 'Stros! Woo Hoo! Not only is it a short work week (today is my work Friday), but I get my schedule magnent too! Oh yeah!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

March Meal: Chicken Broccoli and Rice

I've been craving chicken and rice for a while now so I went to trusty ol Pinterest to find me an easy recipe. I pinned this recipe a while ago, but it stood out to me because it's only a 15 minute meal.

I made a few modifications so for the original recipe click here.

I used:

7 chicken tenders
1 14oz box of instant brown rice
1 can reduced fat cream of chicken soup
2 heads of broccoli
1 cup water
1 T veggie oil
1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp garlic pepper
Salt and Pepper on the chicken

**I had a really pretty pic of everything I used but I accidentally hit delete...boo**

What I did:

Sprinkle the chicken with salt and pepper and place in a warm 10 inch skillet with oil. Cook on each side for about 5 mins (I like to make sure my chicken is fully cooked). Take chicken out and add the cream of chicken soup, water, garlic powder and Cayenne pepper. Stir and bring to a boil. Add in rice and broccoli. Stir. Place chicken on top and cover for another 5 minutes. Voila! You're done.

I really enjoyed this recipe, except I would definitely season the chicken more next time...I'm thinking cajun seasoning...and I would use white rice. While I like brown rice just fine, I think the white rice would be fluffier.

Safe Haven - Book and Movie

Book review - I read this book at the beginning of the year right when all the previews for the movie started airing all. the. time. Even though the previews spoiled a few things for me, I still really enjoyed the book. This was actually the first Nicholas Sparks book I've read. I've seen all the movies though. This was a pretty fast read for me and I liked that it was told from different peoples perspectives. I've noticed a lot of authors have been doing that lately. I would definitely recommend reading this if you haven't seen the movie or if you have and want a better story

{source}
Movie review - Well I knew from the previews that they had changed stuff from the book...like the peoples hair color and added a canoing scene (notebook rip-off anyone?!?!), but I wasn't anticipating them changing major events or names!!! So of course I couldn't really enjoy the movie because the whole time I was sitting there I kept thinking back to the book and how things should have been. Even without reading the book first, I don't think I would agree with most other people and say this was the best movie made since the Notebook. While it was a decent movie, it was also pretty cheesy and I don't feel as if the chemistry was really there. But that's just me... However, even if someone had told me everything I just said above, I would still see the movie. Ha ha. I know...I sound wishy-washy.

Saturday So Far

Since leaving work yesterday, I've been slowly building my addiction to Pretty Little Liars. Man it's addicting...I really didn't need another show to watch, but I'm in too deep now...ha ha. I've also reluctantly signed up for bloglovin since the death of google reader is in the near future...boo. Change is not fun...ha ha.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

If someone can please explain bloglovin to me, I would greatly appreciate it!!!!

WWU: 8

Thursday, 3/7 - Rest...I was so worn out from the rodeo the night before all I wanted to do was lay on the couch in my sweats :)

Friday, 3/8 - Back work plus 20 mins on the treadmill. (489 calories burned) I had another ADD treadmill session where I went from walking to trying to run at a steady pace to 30 seconds sprints then back to walking and one more attempt at running.

Saturday, 3/9 - Rest? I was on my feet all day hosting a baby shower

Sunday, 3/10 - 65 min Elliptical (678 calories burned) Brought my iPad to the gym with me thinking there was WiFi so I could watch netflix and see what all the fuss is about the show Pretty Little Liars. However, when I got there I couldn't find an internet signal...boo. So instead I started watching Pitch Perfect for the 9th time (I still love it!!)

Monday, 3/11 - Sweat it Out Cardio & Abs Circuit plus 17 mins on the lazy man bike to round out 45 mins total (496 calories burned)

Tuesday, 3/12 - Rest - Rodeo Day!!

Wednesday, 3/13 - Rest - sick day

Thursday, 3/14 - Rest - sick day

Friday, 3/15 - Rest - sick day

Well I kind of look lazy this past week. All day Tuesday I had a scratchy throat, but didn't think much of it until we actually got to the rodeo and it had become really painful. I didn't sing, cheer or yell the whole time and yet I still lost my voice. I went from sounding like a normal girl to sounding like a man...talk about scary. Wednesday and Thursday as soon as I got home from work I laid on the couch and took a nice little nap until about 7:45! And I plan on doing that again today... Here's to hoping I'm back on my feet by Monday :)

Rodeo 2013: Kenny Chesney

Ahhhh...Kenny Chesney. I was starting to think I wouldn't see him in concert this year, but wouldn't you know it the boyfriend bought us rodeo tickets for Kenny's performance! (that's right I'm on a first name basis ha ha) His shows are always good and I always feel like going to the beach afterwards...too bad there isn't a nice one close ha ha.

Did anyone else go to a rodeo this year? Who did you see??

Rodeo 2013 - Dierks Bentley

Barrett and I were lucky and received suite tickets last Wednesday to the rodeo to see Dierks. This was my first time being in a suite at Reliant. Not too shabby :) The suite had chipotle potato salad and that was pretty much my entire dinner. It was so good! Can't wait for another round of rodeo fun tonight!

Camo Baby-Q Bash

This was more of a meet the baby shower. My cousin's wife was due in Feb, but the family couldn't all get together until March so we were expecting to meet a 1 month old. Instead, she had him in December so he was already 3 months old! But no matter what we were celebrating!

The invitation made with Publisher
This was the card I made for the gift I was giving them
This is the card I made for my Mom to give with her gift
Of course I had to get burp cloths made. I think I got them done back in October! Elizabeth and her mom did an awesome job (like always)!
When I was cutting letters for the banner I forgot I changed the phrase from welcome to hello so I had all these letters and nothing to do with them to I taped them to ribbon and put it on the back door...problem solved.
It was so bright outside that it made taking this picture very difficult. The banner reads Hello Baby Garrett. I cut the triangles by hand, the letters were cut with my cricut, ran the letters through my sticker machine, stuck them on the pennants, made to hole punches in each and used bakers twine to string/hang them.
My mom and I put this together. We tried to find plain white diapers, but I swear everything has a design on them. However, I really like these little tigers and they matched the decor :)
Camo Brownie Pops...I wasn't a huge fan of how they turned out but they tasted amazing!!! I think I like them better than cake pops!
Camo cupcakes...Camo wrappers, white cake, white icing with green and orange sprinkles. I tried a new way of using a pastry bag and it made clean up a breeze! I will never put icing directly in a pastry bag again. Click here to watch the tutorial!
Table layout (clockwise starting from the left)...gifts for the winners, pens and paper for the games, baby gifts, brownie pops, diaper cake, cupcakes and dinnerware
Lastly, I decided on 3 games to be played. Name the baby animals, word scramble using Garrett's name and the baby food game. Watching my cousin without any kids taste the different food was hilarious!! Just by looking at the jars can you guess what all they had to taste?!?!
The shower went great! I think this is the last shower I will be putting together for a while since the next one should be up in Dallas in June, but we shall see! My mom keeps telling me I should be a party planner, but for now I think I'll stick with my day job ;)

What My Day Off Looked Like

I'm one of the lucky ones who works a 9/80 schedule allowing me every other Friday off! It's definitely worth getting up before the crack of dawn for that Friday. This past Friday I had a busy day getting ready for a baby shower I was hosting Saturday so I thought this would be the perfect time to document. Now if only I had remembered to take more pictures...

Here we go...

Woke up for the first time at 6 am because I forgot to turn off my alarm :(

Finally got out of bed

A little vanilla greek yogurt with chocolate chips and a hot cup of tea for breakfast while catching up on Glee

Let the baking begin! By this time my brownies were in the oven and while I waited on those I whipped up the Baked Potato Ranch Dip

While still waiting for the brownies to finish, I strung together the banner I made for the shower

Once the brownies came out of the oven, I walked over to the gym to get my sweat on. I didn't make it very far on the treadmill, but some is better than none. And yes I was watching Full House ha ha.

After checking the mail and walking back to my apartment, I ended my HRM's workout. I always let it run until I get back to my apartment so that I'm not stopping it while my heart rate is still elevated.

Leftover spinach ravioli for lunch

Next up was a quick shower (didn't think that needed a pic ha ha)

After my shower, I was off to my massage appointment. It feels so good to have someone get all my knots out.

After my massage I completely forgot to take pics again until dinner. My bad. But I started on the cupcakes.

While the first batch were baking, I whipped up the fruit dip.

Put in the second batch of cupcakes (I only have one muffin tray so I can only do 12 at a time)

7 pm dinner with my guy at BWW...surprisingly we only waited 5 mins!

After dinner it was time to roll and dip my brownie pops (don't mind my gigantic hand I was having difficulties)

While the pops were drying I vacuumed and started making the orange candy coating to go on top of the green

Put the orange over the green and stuck them in the fridge

Put up the cupcakes

Wiped down the counters

Took another shower

Crawled into bed at 12:15 am

There you have it...a day in the life of me! Granted I'm not usually this busy on my days off. Most of my fridays off I wake up, eat, go to the gym or run outside, eat/watch tv, get my massage if I have a credit, watch tv/clean/do laundry, eat, tv, bed...ha ha

What does your day look like??

March 7, 2013

It's back!!!

After a year of waiting, Whataburger's spicy ketchup has finally made its return! To say I'm excited would be an understatement. If you're ever at Whataburger and feel like picking up a tub of it for me I will love you forever :) or at least until I eat it all...ha ha

WWU: 7

Thursday, 2/28 - Decemburrr Circuit (426 calories burned) this completely destroyed my hamstrings for about 3 days...ouch

Friday, 3/1 - 30 min stride machine (337 calories burned) not sure if it was because of my hamstrings hurting or lack of energy, but I had a hard time getting my heart rate up this day...I've actually noticed lately that I'm burning fewer calories than normal....hmmmmm

Saturday, 3/2 - Rest

Sunday, 3/3 - Rest...now I had every intention of working out or at least going on a run BUT instead I sat on the couch all day watching the entire first season of Homeland...talk about addicting!!!

Monday, 3/4 - Monday Night Circuit (created by moi on the fly) followed by a little ab work (356 calories burned) I didn't add what weights I used to the below exercises, but for non cardio ones I used 10 pound dumbbells. Probably should have gone with 15 pound dumbbells for the two chest exercises, but since I hadn't done chest work in a while I didn't want to over due it. I was/am still a little sore so I know I was working something!

Tuesday, 3/5 - Cardio Barefoot Flow (didn't wear my heart rate monitor)

Wednesday, 3/6 - Rest...Going to the Rodeo!! woo hoo! Maybe I should count all the walking I'll do there as my workout?!?!
