Sugar Cookie Cake

Filter: Nashville

Did you know you could get a sugar cookie cake from Great American Cookies?!?!

I ordered this one for Barrett's birthday (duh...it says it on the cake) since he prefers sugar cookies to chocolate chip cookies (i know...crazy right?!?!), so I called GAC to see if they could make a sugar cookie and they were like YES WE CAN! ha ha.

Next time I think I'll get a smaller cookie though. We've been munching on this one a while, but they do give you instructions on how to keep it fresh...woo hoo!

One other cool thing about GAC is that I asked if she could draw an elephant (inside joke) and she was like not really, but I'll try. She went and looked up a clip art picture for me! They really were accommodating for my cookie needs...he he he...sometimes I can be so high maintenance.

Cake Batter Balls

How mouth watering do these puppies look?!?! YUM-O

If you've been following along you know that lately I've been into the super simple cooking and baking. These have got to be the easiest things ever! And guess what?!?! NO BAKING!! The hardest part was not eating all the sprinkles before putting them on (what can I say...I have a slight sprinkle obsession).

I saw the recipe for these on one of Craft-O-Maniac's Monday link parties. The recipe is from CaribbeanMissionaryWife. Click here to look it over.

I used Funfetti cake mix (like the original recipe), store brand sweetened condensed milk, red vanilla melting chips (from Hobby Lobby) and rainbow sprinkles.

All you do is mix 1 cup of the cake mix with 1/4 cup of the milk and stir it until it becomes doughy. Then stick them in the freezer for a couple of minutes while you melt your chocolate/vanilla. Roll each ball in the chocolate/vanilla, set on wax paper and sprinkle your sprinkles on top. Store them in the fridge and you're done!

Don't you just want to inhale that fluffiness??

Tip: I roll each dough ball around with a spoon one at a time and then use two toothpicks to pick it out. I also put the sprinkles on right away.

Take Me Home Tonight

I was unsure about this movie when it was released in theaters (which is why I didn't pay 10 bucks to see it) and still didn't know if I wanted to watch it when it came in on Netflix. BUT the awesome 80's music, hair and clothes was worth it. Oh and getting to see Robert Hoffman dance always makes for some good entertainment...if you haven't seen him, look him up on you tube and rent Step Up 2.

The movie isn't, of course, about 80's music and fashion...ha ha. It's about a kid who graduated college and doesn't know what to do with his life and makes up a lie and does some crazy stuff to impress his high shcool crush.

Oh and that's not Kristen Stewart (aka Bella Swan) on the movie poster. Her name is Teresa Palmer, but they really do look alike...kind of creepy huh?!?! I guess everyone really does have a twin in this world.

Strawberry Middle White Cake

Filter: Hefe

Barrett has been wanting to make this cake for.ev.er and finally did! Woo Hoo! It's white cake with strawberry goodness in the middle covered in white icing (funfetti icing to be exact). And since I'm super liking my instagram app you get to see the makings of this deliciousness the instagram way.

Captain America: The First Avenger

Finally saw this! (I've been saying that a lot about movies lately huh?) I really liked it, but the ending I don't really get (disclaimer: I've never read the comics). I mean I get it, but I don't at the same time...I know it's a super hero movie, but really?!?! If someone who knows the story (like really knows it like the back of their hand) would like to explain it, please share your knowledge with me!

I also liked how the movie did a really good job of tying in the Stark company aka future Iron Man. Now I have to watch Thor and The Green Lantern, then I will be good to go for the Avengers movie...woo hoo.

(Incase anyone is curious...I get all the movie posters from imdb.com. I have started adding the link the to pictures...so you should be able to click on the picture and get more info about the movie)

Shepard's Pie

Good ol' comfort food. This is probably the simplest Shepard's Pie I've ever had, but it was still quite tastey.

What you need:

  • Ground beef
  • Mashed Potatoes (instant or from scratch)
  • 1 can of corn
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Tony Chachere
  • 9 x 13 casserole dish
Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F
  2. Brown beef
  3. Drain grease
  4. Add Worcestershire and Tony Chachere to your liking
  5. Add corn and let cook together
  6. Make your mashed potatoes
  7. Put beef and corn mixture in your casserole dish
  8. Spead mashed potatoes on top (doesn't have to be smooth the peaks will brown up better)
  9. Bake for 30 minutes or until the potatoes are golden
Note: Most Shepard's pies are made with more vegetables such as peas, carrots and onions. If you enjoy your veggies and have them on hand, don't be afraid to add them!

Country Strong

Finally watched this movie...it's been on the Netflix list for a while...haha. It was an interesting movie, but it moved a little slow for me. Definitely wasn't expecting the ending (well until the end ha ha)! The songs are pretty good too and of course I'm a fan of Garrett Hedlund (Friday Night Lights and Four Brothers) and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl anyone? or am I the only one who still watches it??).

I know Tim McGraw has made a couple of movies now, but I feel as if he plays the same character in all of them. I'm ready for him to change it up a bit. Oh...a little fun fact Tim McGraw and Garrett Hedlund were in Friday Night Lights together as father and son.
