Chili Pepper Candy Cupcakes
My second round of Cinco de Mayo cupcakes were these little fellows. Since I couldn't eat the Tres Leches ones, I set aside 12 plain white cake cupcakes to decorate with candy Chili Peppers :)
I made these peppers using the red and dark green candy melts from Hobby Lobby. They really are my favorite candy melts to use. I drew 8 chilies on a sheet of white paper and stuck that under some wax paper. I did each color separately. So first I melted the red candy and poured it into a plastic bag and cut a very small end off then pipped out the candy over the drawings. As you can see it wasn't perfect, but after doing all of the outlines I went back and filled them in and you couldn't really tell. Then I repeated everything with the dark green. I let them set up for about an hour and then topped my cupcakes.
Not professional by any means, but I do have to say they aren't too shabby ;)

Tres Leches Cupcakes
Happy be-lated Cinco de Mayo! In celebration of this day I decided to make 2 batches of cupcakes :) The first batch was Tres Leche Cupcakes. Why would I make Tres Leches when I can't have milk?? Well the BF loves Tres Leches, so I thought of surprising him with some homemade-ish ones.
What I used:
Betty Crocker White Cake Mix
Betty Crocket Whipped Creamy White Icing
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed mile
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup heavy whipping cream
Strawberries
What I did:
Bake cupcakes according to directions on box. While the cupcakes are baking, mix together all 3 milks. Once the cupcakes come out of the oven, take a toothpick and poke holes in the cupcakes. Pour 3 spoonfuls (1 at a time and repeat) of the milk mixture over each cupcake. Set in fridge for at least 1 hour. Once chilled and the milk is soaked up, spread the icing over all the cup cakes and top with fruit of choice and enjoy!
Up next...my other batch of cupcakes!!!

This was one kick butt movie! Jason Statham is a beast...has he done a movie where he isn't kicking someones butt every 5 minutes?!?! Love it! The little girl in this movie holds her own as well. I especially loved her at the end...you go girl!
The beginning was a little to "skippy" for me, but I can see why they did it that way. Jason Statham and the little girl don't know each other in the beginning, but with one look he's instantly bonded to her and feels a need to save her now.
Overall, if you like anything Jason Statham has done go see this movie. It may not have been in the top 5 in it's debut weekend, but it's worth seeing.

Quick Biscuits
Last Sunday, I tried my hand at home-made biscuits! So yummy! A while ago, I had seen this recipe on Ramshackle Glam and remembered how easy it looked and thought to myself..."self you can do that."
I knew I had all the ingredients, but I just didn't know how much of them I had. Turns out I only had one cup of flour so I had to half everything and ended up only making 3 and a half biscuits. That, however, was the perfect amount since I only had 4 turkey sausage patties. I know 3.5 and 4 don't equal each other, but I made it work...sometimes you gotta be creative ;)
These were super easy and super quick. I will definitely be making them again...I just have to buy more flour first (I know...what kind of baker am I that I ran out of flour!?!?)
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
p.s. If you're wondering how I made my collage...I did it in a new program called picmonkey.com It's free (for now) woo hoo!

Carrie got a BooBoo
Who's Carrie? Well she's my 4 month old Car Baby (I figure if people can have fur babies, I can have a car baby...ha ha...and yes I name all my cars and if you haven't named yours I'll be happy to help). Last week she got hit by a rock that left this mark...
It's about the size of a quarter and kind of looks like a flower, no?!?! Well if you know me, then you know that this would drive me crazy left untreated. So over the weekend I had it fixed and now Carrie has a little scar or as I like to say a battle wound...ha ha.
Do you get a little peeved when your vehicle gets a scratch, ding or crack? I do...some might even say I havea bit of road rage...I don't know what they're talking about...ha ha. I mean is it so wrong to get angry when someone leaves a grocery cart out in the parking lot and you come out to find it has now found your car and has left a scratch?!?! Especially when you are still paying your sweet little car baby off?!?! ha ha...ok enough ranting...
Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Tangy Fruit Salad and Angel Food Cake
Lately I have been obsessed with Angel Food cake with some sort of fruit mixture on top or beside it. I got tired of fruit with no juice to be soaked up so I was bad and added strawberries soaked in sugar water. Now let me tell ya that was deeeeelish, but so original that I still wanted to try something else. To add a little kick to a normal fruit salad I mixed honey, lime and a tiny bit of sugar together and ta-da I have an awesome (healthier than normal) dessert.
Here's what I used:
1/2 a carton of strawberries
1/2 a carton of blue berries
1/2 a bag of green grapes
1/4 cup of honey
2 large limes (juice only)
1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar
What I did:
Wash and cut all fruit and place in mixing bowl or plastic container. Combine honey and lime juice and mix well then pour over your fruit. Sprinkle sugar all over fruit and then toss to coat everything. Stick in fridge for at least an hour before serving. Serve over Angel Food cake, yogurt, or eat by itself.
This made a lot of juice for the amount of fruit I used, but I like a lot of juice. It's also a bit tangy, kind of like a strawberry limeade...mmmm (now I want to go get a strawberry or cherry limeade from Sonic). If you don't like a lot of tang or juice, I would only use one large lime (or two small limes).
Enjoy!

The Recruit
This movie is from 2003 and when I think 2003 I think "oh it's fairly new", but in reality it's 9 years old! I'm still in the mind frame of when someone says 10 years ago I automatically think the 90's...anyone else with me on that?!?!
This was a good movie. Colin Farrell actually looks healthy in this movie. It's another movie about the government, but this time it's all about what it is like getting into the CIA. It also has it's mind games, personal issues and a little bit of romance. Overall, if you are into conspiracy theory type movies I would suggest renting it or recording off of the TV.
